The creative force behind Aesthetic Candy is a London based Fashion Stylist and Blogger. Karine Jones graduated from London College of Fashion (University of the Arts) with a bachelor’s degree in Product Design and Development for the Fashion Industries.
During her studies Karine travelled to New York to complete an industry internship with designers Cynthia Rowley, Jill Stuart and Catherine Malandrino to get a closer look into the operations of a fashion house in the real world.
Karine is a published stylist and has over 10 years experience in the fashion industry and specialises in all areas of fashion styling, including: editorial, advertising, personal and wardrobe styling for tv, music videos and public performances.
Karine’s styling career began with Personal Styling, providing a one on one service open to the general public with the desire to elevate her clients style and a create a capsule wardrobe tailored to their personality and lifestyle.
Aesthetic Candy has grown into a platform that not only shares Karine passion but aims to develop an awareness of graduate and independent fashion designers, sharing highlights and reviews from International Fashion Weeks and events.
Recently, Karine had the pleasure of being invited to speak as a guest lecturer at Central Saint Martins (CMS), a public tertiary which is also part of the University of the Arts.
Aesthetic Candy’s vision is to continue to inspire fashion enthusiasts, those looking to discover creative style, and to support emerging designers. Karine’s love for travelling has taken her to Paris, Belgrade, and Copenhagen’s fashion weeks and stirred her appetite for discovering new talent, networking and working collaboratively on an international level with photographers, set designers, makeup artists, hair stylists.
Karine’s work frequently intertwines with the music industry. Often commissioned by client and Choral Director and Arranger Mark De-Lisser, who wrote the arrangement of ‘Stand by Me’ for the royal wedding. Karine has been responsible for styling Mark De-lisser and his choir (Academy of Contemporary Gospel Music) for a number of events including:-
- BBC’s annual charity event Children in Need
- The British Insurance Awards
- And the Digital Media Association Awards to name a few.
Karine was raised by first generation parents who travelled from Grenada (West Indies) to the UK in the 60’s. Karine’s love for style and creativity stemmed from family. Her mother’s sense of style, flawless and precise cake decorating and father’s talent for sketching despite it not being his trade.
Working with clothes is so much more than being up to date with the latest fashion trend. Karine uses fashion styling as a means to express her creative vision and her style. Self presentation is key simply because our personality is not the first thing people see. It’s about communicating who you are without having to speak.
