Bob Wekesa is a senior lecturer and coordinator of the mid-career honours programme at the journalism and media studies department at Wits. He teaches and supervises in the areas of journalism and media theory, methodology, and international media. He is a research associate with the Wits African Centre for the Study of the United States (ACSUS) and the Wits Africa China Reporting Project. He holds doctoral and master’s degrees from the Communication University of China and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nairobi. His research interests are in the intersection of media and foreign policy with focus on soft power and public diplomacy. Wekesa is widely published in academic platforms and is a frequent commentator on topical issues in various media outlets.
